Pros
If you strive to make an impact in the lives of children and families the agency, Family Development Services which holds the Head Start grant for Marion and Hamiliton counties does a good job of equipping low income families with a variety of resources. There is also a decent benefit package with a generous amount of time off and paid vacation days. The organization also has several high quality teachers. Lastly, the CEO is mission driven, family oriented and leads by example.
Cons
Lack of professionalism throughout the entire agency, inability to hire and retain qualified staff, malicious gossip amongst mid level managers, lack of communication from upper management down causing last minute notifications to staff and families (consequently resulting in upset parents!) micro management with little to now delegation amongst those whom are very qualified to handle tasks, lack of follow up/follow through and ethics from managers. If you want a true professional career where you feel valued, trusted to do the work you were hired to do, and genuinely enjoy reporting to work each day, look elsewhere for employment.
