Pros
Opportunity to work from home if needed, social activities, freaky Friday where you can decide to work on what you like the most
Cons
There are a lot of really nice people and what I am going to write is not true for ALL the teams (it depends on who is your team/tech lead), but some things should be improved as soon as possible... As first thing, this is one of the many companies that underestimate how to handle the developing/data science department (they are mainly focused on sales and marketing). The managers and the senior people that supervise your work may not have any background related to what you are doing... The consequences are easy to imagine: a lot of frustration due to unrealistic goals and endless meetings for details that could be easily fixed. The job may also not be what you expect, because they don't have either a deep knowledge of the technologies that you are going to use and they don't know the difference between them. And quantity is always preferred to quality... Apart from the lack of some skills, I do believe that some people should follow classes about how to interact with their colleagues. In every job, you are going to find people that are not nice from a professional and personal point of view, but here I found an incredible concentration of them. No teamwork, some people don't share their knowledge (so it's really hard to acquire experience on the existing projects), a lot of arrogance and an absolute lack of organization... I also found the working environment kind of intimidating and you feel like you always own something to them or you are not doing enough... An example? I've heard several times sentences like: "I would be able to do your task in 10 minutes" or "I hired you even if you did not master all the technologies that we use, in other companies is not like that, do you know?". Seriously, are we kidding? The worse thing is that the management is aware of this terrible working environment, but they don't seem to put a real effort in order to improve the situation. When you complain they ignore you or they ask you to be patient and try to handle the situation in the best way. They act as they are the only company in the Netherlands where you can work. Honestly, is so easy to find companies that are way better of this and I really don't see a motivation why a person should join Friss...
