Pros
The pay is competitive, decent benefits including healthcare and employee pension contributions. There are well-developed policies on diversity and inclusion and I don't think discriminatory behaviour would be tolerated, though I've never witnessed any. FNZ takes its regulatory obligations seriously and there is a lot of training to ensure everyone understands their place in this, although it's all online courses so not sure how truly effective it is.
Cons
The biggest downside is the mass, arbitrary dismissals such as has just happened (July 2023) with 15% of the workforce being removed. I understand that there may be financial reasons to reduce costs, but quite recently we have been told that FNZ is doing well financially. The worst thing about the lay-offs is that they seem to make no reference to the value or performance of the people dismissed, it's completely arbitrary. FNZ has no regard for, or loyalty towards, the people it employs. You could come to work here, give it your all, buy into all the corporate narrative about changing the world for the better, and still be fired with no warning. The second big downside is the corporate culture of working long hours and weekends just to do your normal job. Projects are 'ambitious' in their timescales and under-resourced, leaving everyone to work like a maniac just to keep up. This sort of thing would be OK if it were the exception, but it seems to be the everyday experience for a lot of people. And even if you do sacrifice the rest of your life to meet the crazy demands of work, that doesn't mean a thing when next next round of job cuts comes along (see above).
