Competitive Remote Salary, Mismanaged by Owners - Programmer FIGS (CA) Employee Review

Pros

- Competitive salaries - Remote first engineering department - Typical work-life balance - Smart, friendly, and helpful teammates - Ownership of your work - Modern tech-stack

Cons

CEO keeps whiplashing departments towards weird goals that don't stabilize and grow the business while ignoring data backed work that could benefit customers, employees, and shareholders. C-Suite level employees that try to push more mature processes just get replaced. LOTS of turnover due to random firings at the C-Suite level. This results in a "please the boss" culture that then results in meaningless work that is just necessary to keep the CEO and their friends happy. They treat the company like a personal toy, even funneling millions of dollars of its capital into pet project startups that are not directly related or likely to succeed (example: OOG investment).

Pros

My Excel skills sharpened very quickly here. I also like the constant collaboration with my teammates. Overall, people are driven, competent, and passionate about the product, which helps with staying focused and motivated. Despite the busy schedule, I manage to have a healthy work-life balance. The benefits are good – 401k match, flexible paid time off, wellness perks, and Uber Eats vouchers.

Cons

There's always another report to finish, another meeting to attend, or another fire to put out.

Pros

- Woman-led business - Cool marketing campaigns - Nice office in Santa Monica

Cons

- People are constantly crying in meetings; they are so overwhelmed with work. - If you're new, no one is willing to help you out. Legacy team members ignore their newer colleagues and judge them with blatant disdain. - You'll be blamed for things that are completely out of your control. For example, if you're in finance, you might be blamed for something going wrong in engineering. It's bananas. - You're working 60-70 hours per week, as an expectation. Some people had to schedule all of their doctor's appointments in one single day (and there's no reprieve). - The environment is not supportive for families and caregivers. One woman was fired right after coming back after maternity leave. The implication is clear: You'll succeed if you put the company above anything else. - Nothing really gets done, because leadership is constantly changing their mind. Sometimes this happens mid-project, and then the working team gets the blame when deadlines are missed. - Can't speak for everyone, but my boss is a total creep. I connected with some of their prior colleagues, and they confirmed my worst suspicions. It's disappointing that a company that preaches their values would hire someone so deplorable.
