Pros

I enjoy working with some of the people I have met, and the salary is OK. The residents are mostly great to work with. At the facility level they do have policies and procedures, and they try hard to follow them. The regional staff members are nice and lend an ear (or a hand) when things are really tough at the facility. They are also very knowledgeable about their jobs and about how things work "the extendicare way".

Cons

Poor attitudes, and most people talk to you like you're dirt. It is very hard not to walk by someone without receiving a death stare. There is little to no support from the administrators, because they are too busy dealing with childish problems among the staff. There are few managers who actually know how to manage, and that gets tricky when issues arise. The building is never clean no matter how hard the housekeeping staff works...which is pretty much not at all. Questions and concerns often fall on deaf ears and communication is a major hurdle for a lot of these individuals. Administrators and DON see fit to only hire people they know so if those people cause problems, it can be difficult to get them to actually reprimand them or handle the situation.
