THE WORST - Meetings & Administrative Manager Executive Director Employee Review

Pros

The pay was ok, I guess. They give me a 10% raise after only a few months of being there, in addition to a [v small] holiday bonus. They also gave the week between Christmas and New Year's off, although you were still expected to answer any/all emails received, so... not really.

Cons

EDI has little to no interest in diversity, with the DEI "committee" (now dismantled) being a figurehead that was tasked with doing silly events rather than any interest in making measurable change. (Illustrated by how the vast majority of the company is middle-aged white women.) They do not offer one single day of sick leave. If you need time off, it comes from your bank of PTO. (15 days to start, moving up to 20 after 5 years of service, if I remember correctly.) When traveling, the work expectations were intense, often clocking 16+ hour days, with little to no incentive for doing so. After suffering a life-altering injury and returning from my federally-protected (FMLA) leave, I was put on strict performance plan, though I had zero performance issues prior. (And, in fact, I'd been awarded a huge raise only a few months earlier.) HR (and management) were legitimately cruel, especially in relation to my FMLA leave. My time with EDI was legitimately the worst of my entire life-- even worse than when I was widowed. If you're considering employment with this company, I would highly suggest you don't.

Pros

EDI employs staff to work directly with medical/research non-profits, giving employees the incredible opportunity to help its clients realize their vision. Culture is very supportive - EDI supports professional development and membership in related organizations for its employees to help them continually grow and say on top of trends. They provide pathways for staff to be promoted and grow within the company. They offer a variety of opportunities from meetings logistics to committee management to meeting planning to medical writing and more. I've worked there for over 15 years and have had an incredible experience with the company as well as with the volunteers we serve.

Cons

No cons currently. Over the last 15+ years that I've been here, EDI has worked hard to support employees and respond to suggestions for improvement. For example, most positions are able to work remotely up to 3 days a week. EDI is also continuously updating technologies and systems to allow staff to efficiently do their work.

Pros

some work travel… but not many pros worth listing

Cons

the person who wrote the review below… only one person there has that title… and 100% they were asked to write this review by leaders….their listed pros are only given to favorites likes. The company pays horribly, is a revolving door of staff, promotes favorites like the person who wrote the review. So many people leave and the company won’t change. The company could be amazing if they stopped being so old school and treated their staff like people. technology is old, can’t be 100% remote and you get managed by so many fake ppl who make way to much money for the little work they do
