Pros
- Passionate and generally talented community. - Personal growth is inherent through the work. - Incredible "office", the wilderness. - You get to see and feel the positive results of your work frequently.
Cons
- Ownership and upper level management were disconnected, lacked compassion, and did not frequently practice values-based decision making. - Community was very homogenous and efforts towards growth in this area were half-hearted, not genuine, and largely forgotten over time. - Nepotism and favoritism were practiced frequently. - Overly "brand focused" instead of people and community focused. - Overall direction and culture favored blind followership over discussion and curiosity. - Compensation was not favorable and any challenges to it were met with disregard or being told "you can go work elsewhere". - Profit was increasingly put before safety, organizational health, and employee support. - General direction of employee experience, engagement, and retention was negative.
