Pros
I felt compelled to write this because I was personally approached by the former VP of Marketing with a request to write a disparaging post about the founders and firm. At the time, I told her I wasn't going to do that because it didn't accurately represent my experience. Despite her insistence that the founders are "bad people," my lived experience is the opposite. I think both of the founders are sharp and well-intentioned. They always treated me fairly and supported me and my career objectives. I've maintained a good relationship with both of them since leaving and from what I've heard, the firm is doing exceptionally well now. I have nothing but positive things to say and wish the Equi team great success moving forward.
Cons
While I was there, the VP of Marketing, HR, and COO formed a bit of a "mean girls" group that would make a sport out of putting down the founders and speaking negatively all the time. This should not have been tolerated and it made the experience bad for everyone. I understand the firm was struggling to find product market fit at the time, so things were far from perfect, but the culture was really bad at the time. Fixing that is my biggest piece of feedback.
