Pros

unmatched exposure to opportunities for growth and advancement. The turnover rate is fairly high (most people leave after 2-3yrs). I used to think this was a con -- but then I realized that such a system allows AMAZING ownership for up-and-comers. If you've got a top-tier intellect and the drive to match, then you can be one of the most influential people in the company in 5 years. And Epic compensates you very well, with salaries that jump by 10-30% annually for the highest performers.

Cons

In order to be happy at Epic, you need to have a mature understanding of work-life balance. Meaning, you need to know your limits of work, understand what each new commitment will entail, and be able to dynamically adapt to keep your balance right. Despite what most people who burn-out say, Epic doesn't force you to work hard -- they put you in a situation where you want to work that hard to grow/achieve. That may sound like splitting hairs, but it isn't. Once I realized that I could steer my workload through effective prioritization, well-timed escalation, and proper planning, my workload was entirely my choice. Mgmt at Epic is helpful and supportive, but won't do your work for you and hold your hand. If you're a poor time manager, don't communicate your wants/needs well, or are passive aggressive, you should NOT work here.
