Pros

Good pay. Good amount of paid vacation. Decent Benefits. Great Co-workers. That plant has so much potential to run much more smoothly and effectively. The HR guys are fun to be around. Interesting work. Many opportunities to try to solve problems.

Cons

Absolutely, hands down, the most unprofessional, toxic management style I have ever encountered. Although HR had assured me they were trying to change the culture to one of respect and team cooperation and basic manners 101, there were one or two blatantly obvious hurdles to overcome that will probably be allowed to continue to hinder that effort. Let's put it this way, when your manager is forced by HR to ask how he could improve the working environment for your team, then proceeds to tell you that you are being petty for requesting a please or thank you from time to time instead of storming in to the office and barking out demands. He acted like I had requested a hug or a bouquet of roses left on my desk. Nope, just manners and/or (dare I say) a little professional courtesy. The biggest problem I saw however, was this mindset came in from the higher up Manager from Corporate. A man who couldn't form a sentence without the F-word, would come in a couple times a month and really get everybody on edge. Not helpful at all. Therefore, it was my belief that corporate condones chaos and belligerence. Or maybe they don't care. Either way, no thanks.

Pros

Mostly fair compensation, nice bonus structure, variety in projects and a lot of exposure to many aspects of the field, great for building relationships outside of the company. There are a handful of great PMs looking out for you.

Cons

There is no such thing as work life balance working as a project manager for this company. Expect to be overworked and burnt out with minimal support from superiors and managers. There are a few toxic leaders within the company and the SOAR program that will continue to run candidates away. If you stand out in any way, step out of line, ask for better living situations, or challenge authority in any way, they will find some petty way to fire you. If you don’t fit the image they are trying to portray, they will find some petty way to fire you. Throughout the program you take a series of assessments. They will 100% not let you pass or take the final exam to underpay you for the amount of work you actually perform and use you as a tax break. Throughout the program they will exploit you and put you on display to recruit others for the program. Once you are with the company long enough, you start to see through the facade and you realize the people dedicated to helping you are more concerned with the interest of the company and its image.
