Pros

Emberex treats their employees like royalty. I look forward to working each day. I work remotely, but I always feel I have support. I like having the option to work on-site occassionally. I wish I would have found Emberex long ago. They reward their employees with a great benefit package, snacks, parties & fun excursions.

Cons

I honestly have no Cons:)

Pros

Fun workplace environment, really crazy good times. Dev team is highly proficient and very collaborative. Freedom to learn new technologies on your own and come up with clever solutions to problems. Daily scrum meetings are managed very well--they are tightly-run and genuinely helpful. A couple of the managers are both technically literate and approachable. Foosball, office pools, general pranks abound. A good sense of humor is appreciated and will get you far. Very flexible hours and time off, as long as you get your work done. Perks such as Ducks game tickets, ski trips, concert tickets. Great downtown location. This would be a great place to work for a year or so, pick up some agile skills, and have a lot of fun in Eugene.

Cons

Don't let its nimble tech startup appearance fool you, this is a very conservative company. It's very resistant to change or any kind of risk, and does not allow employee ownership. Company owners do on occasion solicit employee opinions, but suggestions are always politely disregarded. The company direction is set by the owners, and sometimes bewilderingly bad decisions are made at that level. A lot of dead-end projects. Managers are hired from outside--some are excellent, some are toxic. Devs are treated as interchangeable. The work provides little opportunity for advancement. The company may grow, but as a dev, you will not be a part of that growth.
