Pros
- Great empathetic leaders that treat team members like humans rather than Big 4 cogs. Received a lot more guidance and in turn, a lot more responsibility than at the Big 4, and it resulted in more growth and knowledge retention in a shorter period of time. - The firm looks out for the people, the tone at the top is a collaborative one where they want to hear from the employees, they do a great job of responding to the needs or questions from employees. - If you're looking to develop your skill set in technical accounting, this is as good as it gets. The teams here are smart, and they really help develop your conceptual thinking rather than just getting you to fill out work papers or blindly copy and paste guidance. - Compensation is fair and competitive.
Cons
- Hours are variable, might be long depending on what projects entail, but I've never had a problem taking PTO or having to step out briefly for any surprise circumstances. I've never felt pressure to "eat hours" for management while working here. - There was some management previously which made me reconsider working at the firm, but they have since left. During that period, I made my concerns known to management, and I switched teams almost immediately. Can't ask for a better solution.
