Pros
EdWeek org structure and culture are very flat--everyone has the opportunity and encouragement to make critical, lasting contributions to the company. Company has weathered the storm facing media companies better than most by innovating product mix. Recently appointed CEO Michele Givens is fantastic--strategic, committed to developing and empowering her direct reports and the company at large, and committed to a culture of respect and teamwork. STrong vibe of teamwork and camraderie across the company. Work-life balance is great, maybe even to a fault. Great location in downtown Bethesda
Cons
This is a small company, which may constrain growth opportunities and career-pathing. IMHO, too much focus on parity in compensation as opposed to meritocracy; star performers may find themselves frustrated on the comp side, although there are examples too the contrary. You must have a strong stomach to work in k-12 not for profit media--corporate success is not guaranteed but needs to be earned 24/7 365. Culture is too humane, as marginal or even poor performers tend to be retained across long careers. Office space is pretty dreary.
