My primary response is that anyone who is searching for employment should definitely come in and meet the management, whether it's at EVstudio or any other company and make your own call. I think you'll find if you've been around AE, that we are far more engaged and interested than the usual firm. In a firm with over 60 employees, you've got a firm founder taking time to write these responses the day we were notified of the review. Ironically, we really do care and take an active interest in how people view EVstudio which means that when we let employees go this is their first stop. Turnover can be higher with employees that don't fit, we make every effort to train, provide opportunities and help to find a fit for them. A couple other exciting things on the fair compensation front. We've hired seven new EVers already in 2020 with our competitive salary and benefits. We've also added a new Volunteer Day-Off program in addition to our industry leading PTO. Please come find out more about EVstudio.

Pros

Great people and some very talented professionals. Culture is great.

Cons

Leadership had poor planning for business development pipeline. Processes and standards were inconsistent between departments and made deliverables difficult to present. Some divisions were stretched too thin and the staff were stressed out. Billing was a perpetual challenge. No bonuses for non-principles and not all the principles were created equal. Made for inconsistent leadership across divisions.

EVstudio does a wide variety of project types, however a large chunk of those are residential. The multifamily architecture billing index went from a high of 60 in early 2022 to several months in the low 40's in 2023 and 2024. Meaning that firms who do multi-family lost roughly 30%+ of their business in that time frame. In the same timeframe EVstudio only reduced our billings by 8%, not what we'd like, but far better than average. This was largely due to our diverse pipeline of business development. We've made major investments into diversification of project types, disciplines and locations; all with the goal of stability and growth. Ultimately principals are people and they do vary on their strengths. Annual salary reviews in November address the compensation based on performance and by comparing it across studios. Very glad that you see and recognize the talent and how much people care at EVS. Appreciate your time here and your feedback. - Sean
