Pros
The CEO and Chairman of the Board (Andy and Dennis Kim) consistently show that they care about their employees and try their best to remember everyone and their family. They attend staff meetings and greet everyone individually. They are approachable and kind people, and I hope the business stays in their family. Bonuses and raises happen every year as long as the company & employee does well. With the solar industry booming, we've done very well. There are many knowledgeable managers so new grads have people to learn from. Each department is different though, so this would depend on the department and team. For anonymity I am not mentioning my team, but it is an engineering team. There is a summer outing every year and multiple events for holidays and activities throughout the year to get employees connected inside and outside of work. Participation is not required, but the things I have attended have been great. Every employee I have met has been very kind; it seems the hiring managers care a lot about personalities when looking for new employees. I have not seen another company like this, and I hope it remains to be this great.
Cons
With the massive growth of the company, sometimes people have a workload greater than 40 hrs per week. I see many people working over the weekends and late nights, so it is important to stand up for yourself and say no or work with managers on workload balance. Salary employees are expected to work 40-44 hrs per week, but any hours additional to that can be used as future PTO for up to 8 weeks. This is helpful, but working >44 hrs/week is not ideal. There is also a back to work policy in place, where it is strongly recommended to be in the office 2 days a week. The office is really nice so it's not so bad going in. I have seen several bad reviews on Glassdoor, but these are honestly the only cons I have seen while employed at EVS.
