Pros

Someone told me the two reasons to work at ESO were because you care about the industry and the person you sit directly next to. This is accurate. The industry is super interesting, and the people trapped at ESO below management are usually, for the most part, really good people. Free food in the cafeteria, and a great office manager.

Cons

Read all of the comments about management not listening and the good ole boys club you have to be in, in order to drive real change. So basically, nothing ever changes. When you see 5 star glass door reviews, those are from management. So disregard them. They ran is through an employee survey after telling us to make sure we said good things about ESO on the Austin best places to work list. We all told the Austin best places to work list we'd been pressured to lie, so we didn't make it. As a result, management sent out an employee survey for everyone to take and review after to cause change. Months and months later, no change. The average tenure at ESO is split between either 10 years or 10 months. Either you're in the club, or you're slaving, misdirected, misguided, undoing work you spent all year on, constantly second guessing if you're even capable, and caving in to more or less an abusive relationship. I won't even get into how bad the building is. But, it's bad. Goodbye windows, hello loud noise and long tables and "open office" and a lot of very disgruntled people.

Pros

- Flexible working and mostly good people. - Many people who work there have worked in emergency services roles, so they understand the products and customers well.

Cons

- Can't trust management and can't speak true feelings for fear of being fired for saying something they didn't like hearing. - Absolutely zero care for working parents with young children - they are getting rid of them all (mostly the moms) and only hiring people with no kids, or the few that do have kids are teenage and up, which has been blatantly obvious. Guessing it's because older kids don't require their parents much, so they are never taken away from work. - Getting rid of so many people with no interim plans, causing massive workloads and unknown processes for those that were "safe." - Pay is low. - There is no clear direction of the company, only layoffs, broken products, upset customers, and unrealistic goals. - Used to be a great place to work, but upper management changes have ultimately caused things to go downhill fast.
