Pros
Nice staff
co-workers are pleasant
diverse student body
fun and interesting classes
help always available
coffee and bagels during the bi-quarterly staff meetings
The amount of work instructors are required to do for the pay is fair (generally at least $20 per hour)
Cons
They claim to give raises to the instructors, but never or very seldom do.
There is frequently little or no opportunity to move up unless you want to work extra for free
No benefits or incentives
No paid jury duty
No paid holidays or vacation time
Student-teacher reviews can prevent a good, hardworking teacher, who is genuinely trying to make a good impact and give students a good education, from getting a raise.
If a student complains about a teacher because they forced the student to get off their cell phone and pay attention, or wouldn't let the student to come back into class after they were kicked out for the hour, the office staff won't back you up.
