Pros
--it's a digital music company so the industry/content is fun
--Relaxed atmosphere and generally pleasant/nice people working there
--Can generally carve your own path and take on new challenges
--some decent fringe benefits (tons of free music)
--great overall mission serving an interesting and challenging "niche" market
Cons
--emusic has (had?) so much potential to be such a great music startup, but it functions much more like a standard corporation w/ a lot more bureaucracy than expected
--upper mgmt has failed this company with poor decisions, bad strategy, and a serious lack of understanding of what the company needs to have a great tech team ( a perfect example....it's 2012, still no mobile app for their core product)
--lots of outsourcing of key projects and functions
--not a lot of attention to professional development and lacking some core HR functions and process (2 years without any formal review?)
--for a digital music company, the atmosphere is more sterile than you might expect
