Pros

Remote, a cool industry, great benefits (no 401k matching) There are some great people there who know the industry well and very passionate about cannabis and the product. You can be yourself, everyone gets that you're at home and are flexible. If you dont have a job or trying to get out of cannabis retail, why not?

Cons

Lot's of instability. I almost feel bad for sourcing people away from steady jobs to come here. They are very meeting heavy and sometimes it's hard to get your actual job done. Leadership is poor. There are no check and balances. They like to say we want people who will just "get ish done" or "move first ask questions later", but it results in poor communication and people just taking on things to look busy and not making sure that it is effective or that the other people involved actually need it. A lot of the leaders are people who have just been there for a long time, but not neccessarily skilled enough to take the departments to the next level. You get the general sense that management is just winging it (which aren't we all) but because they dont really know, they dont really trust other people to do their jobs either. If things are changing they will just stop talking in general or even ignore you. You just have to kinda feel in your gut that things are gonna change. In a startup, prioties are going to change frequently. HOWEVER while I was there they would change on a daily sometimes hourly basis. They could care less about diversity. From what I've seen, if they are doing lay offs and you are BIPOC, you should be a little nervous. I dont think they are trying to be racist but they are not thoughtful about diversity AT ALL. You gotta be apart of the in crowd to make it here. It really helps to be white, male, have worked at Toast and get their jokes.

Pros

Fun place to work, interesting field and nice new tech stack, great coworkers, leadership is not half bad, most diverse workplace I've ever been in.

Cons

The work life balance can be great at times and bad at others. It is very team dependent though. Your requirements shift quickly. Obsessed with AI and optimization.

Pros

From what I heard, it used to be a phenomenal culture, but I joined just a week or two after the first major round of layoffs. The hostile company takeover was soon to follow then many rounds of layoffs to come.

Cons

A couple of very large, public layoffs, but to later avoid press - the rest were weekly, but small enough to avoid public notice which meant they were never acknowledged even within the company. Working weekends and taking calls to your personal cell number at night for extra work is smiled upon. Company at a complete loss of direction and there seems to be no desire for actual data or for things to work. It's like they want more on paper to show investors or something - it's actually unbelievable how little the company now does while completely overworking everyone.
