Pros
If it’s calm, you get to cuddle dogs. Learned about body language and also how to cut nails.
Cons
These other reviews of this Dogtopia are spot on. I’ll only talk about the cons that personally irritated me the most. Look at the other reviews for more, please. There are a lot. Everything starts out great, but quickly deteriorates into hell. I’ve seen dogs MAUL other dogs and not get in ANY trouble for it. They don’t even tell the owners. VERY overcrowded and understaffed. Several other reviews here mention this and it is VERY TRUE. it is NOT safe for one person to be alone 15-20+ dogs. Then you get an attitude and blame the “coach” for a fight happening? The owners know nothing about dogs, yet act like they do. They will walk or put a dog into the room with NO WARNING. Even tho this is always mentioned at meetings. They cause fights then throw shade about it. One owner in particular sucks the life out of the building. She is a very mean, fake person. She sees you as a replaceable warm body. She doesn’t care about your emotions. This is of course an opinion I, an employee, have come to form of her based on HER actions. We shouldn’t be afraid of one of our bosses. Favoritism also apparently blinds the owners, they’re terrible at hiding it. Their underling is VERY rude to anyone who catches her in a not 100% good mood. Which is most of the time. She belittles people simply because they haven’t been there as long as her and are still learning. The dogs never get a break from each other. It’s worse with the overly anxious dogs. They don’t eat no matter what we try, and all we can do is pet them on the head until they get out of this prison (which sometimes isn’t for weeks). Ive come to learn that this Dogtopia in particular only cares about its image (and money). They do not care about the happiness and safety of their staff. They care about the webcams, people looking “good” and “happy” in appearance, report cards, pictures of dogs “looking happy”, pretty much anything that’ll make the PARENTS happy, but the staff miserable. They never stop to look for the thin white line that’ll make both happy.
