Run, don't walk. - Manager Marketing Docker Employee Review

Pros

There's a lot of freedom in working remotely. The pay is good, but the benefits are average (no 401K match). Every year, there's a big company event, which was exceptional and meant I met my coworkers. There are wonderful peers at Docker, I have made lifelong friendships and learned a lot from previous marketing heads.

Cons

The CMO is reckless and cruel. If a team member challenges him, they're fired within a couple of weeks. He adds fun activities that we don't want to do to help us bond, but we don't know who won't be with the team that week. He's been firing 2-3 people weekly and replacing them with VPs as clueless as he is. There isn't a marketing strategy, and making suggestions will be seen as challenging him. Anyone considering joining Docker's marketing team should reach out to current and ex-employees to find out what it's really like.

Pros

Compensation and benefits are great. Most people/co-workers are really nice people. COO can be compelling and offset the CEO - but only for so long.

Cons

When absentee exec leadership does show their face, they are constantly chasing the new shiny thing. No consideration for what has been in flight, planned, or even released. Projects, products and internal org structures change daily. Resources are thin and we're told to "adopt AI in all things within 6 months." Sr mgmt trying to stay relevant by "solving" problems that don't exist and pushing agendas that don't benefit anyone aside from themselves. HR asking people to write positive reviews to offset reality um... ok??
