Pros
The product space Deepsee has found is a very intriguing space to be in from a software perspective. It presents many challenges and areas to improve, as well as add a tremendous amount of value to customers at the same time, which is a great spot to be in. We're developing using some of the latest tech stacks and leveraging cloud tools. This combined with a diverse workforce, which is mostly located in Utah (but has a large global remote presence), creates a powerhouse of a development team. There isn't a day that goes by that my curiosity and creativity can't be fulfilled. Working with a great development/product organization, all driving toward one goal, with seasoned leaders guiding and helping get the company out there , is something I have always wanted to be a part of. Ideas are listened to, collaborated on, and implemented.
Cons
Direction shifts can come a little quicker at a start up than at a more seasoned company. This was expected going in for me. This might be seen as a con to some so I'm putting it here too: we are currently a smaller company trying to do a lot, so there are needs, open roles, areas which can be improved but aren't making much traction because we're still growing and hiring. Because of this I'm able to expand my role to take on new challenges and add value (some call this wearing many hats). Will this last forever? No--but I personally don't mind it and I never have to work more than a typical work day. Plus if you believe in a company, a vision, a team, I think you want to help out in any way you can.
