Pros

Excellent work environment right in downtown Bellingham. Wonderful building with a great kitchen.

Cons

Utter lack of competent management. Development teams lead by Call Center managers, completely incapable of providing any oversight. No competent project managers, so EVERY endeavor in a mess, late, sloppy, low quality. Development staff underpaid and much work being outsources to Vietnam, keeping wages low. Quality Assurance, as a profession, and as something to be performed is totally foreign and frowned upon at DIS. Seriously, there is NOT ONE Quality Assurance person in the entire company.

Pros

All the employee's I know are dedicated to creating quality software and providing excellent support to our customers and each other.

Cons

The basement kitchen is closed due to Covid-19 and we all have to work from home.

Pros

Lots of families, work-life balance is great. There are a lot of employees who have worked at DIS for over 20 years, which says something about the loyalty and the interesting nature of the business. You get to work in tech in Bellingham, one of the most beautiful places on Earth, a small university city between Seattle and Vancouver, BC. Flat organization requires personal initiation - you can learn a lot but you have to be self-disciplined and have a personality that enjoys learning and taking on new challenges. The kitchen is beautiful and is fully stocked - for some this was the deciding factor in joining DIS.

Cons

This is a very flat organization, and while great for wearing multiple hats, at a certain point there is not a lot of room for career advancement. Compensation is salary + benefits, there are no bonuses or stock options (rather they offer 25% 401K matching).
