Pros

Small office in the heart of downtown Dallas, in walking distance from nearby restaurants for lunch. Pretty cool people, especially in the studio.

Cons

Management treats the studio like a sweat shop. Creative direction is either rigid or sketchy and vague. But expectations are extremely high considering the lack of real leadership. There is a sense of entitlement from management since they own the magazine. There's no getting around it. High stress, poor people skills, lack of (genuine) appreciation. If you're a worker bee, you'll do fine there. If you're an "out of the box" thinker, or have an ounce of creativity other than designing templates for a magazine, you'd do better in a creative environment. This isn't it.

Pros

Smart, creative, fun people. A lot of flexibility and work-life balance. Leadership who truly cares about both you and the company. Get to dip your toes into a lot of different avenues which is great experience. D is honestly the best place I’ve worked - there’s always a new opportunity or fun challenge and I love the people I work with. I feel respected and valued.

Cons

Pay could be higher as others have mentioned. Since it’s a smaller company, there aren’t direct/obvious routes for promotion, but opportunities are still there.
