Pros

Very supportive and friendly work environment, where asking questions is encouraged and everyone is open to offering help when needed. Everyone is super friendly and after several weeks of daily stand-ups with the whole team, you really feel like you're part of a family. It's a very autonomous workplace where everyone oversees their own tasks, but I never felt neglected or unable to ask for support. If anything, there was a lot of flexibility and freedom to supervise my own work without someone micro-managing my every move. The majority of learning / training is hands-on, which also means you can grow quickly within the company.

Cons

N/A (I really have nothing negative to say, I had a great time and couldn't have asked for a better place to gain early professional experience)

Pros

- Amazing team: thoughtful, hardworking, invested in each other's success as well as success of the company - Leadership extremely supportive & invested in employee professional growth, encouraging honest feedback and democratic collaborative endeavors - Actually encourages a healthy, holistic work-life balance – not just lip-service - Effective remote environment - open & consistent communication that allows for autonomy while preserving accountability and nurturing teamwork

Cons

- Expected downsides of any fully-remote work environment: occasional breakdown of collaborative tasks & projects due to differing schedules, timezones, imperfect communication processes - Onboarding protocol & infrastructure for new employees could be more organized

Pros

Misery loves company, bonded with my co-workers

Cons

Was sold on a position that I didn't have much experience in and promised training. Never received that training and then blamed for the outcomes of my projects, even when I asked for support and advice. Misled about expectations and then blamed when expectations were not met. Was hired because of my age/enthusiasm, therefore I was underpaid because of my lack of experience. When I asked for the same courtesy and respect I gave to my superiors, it was denied. 9+ hour work days with a toxic culture that made you feel bad if you left before 6:15pm.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Glassdoor. It is vital for us to hear what we are doing well and what we need to improve upon. We are not used to receiving feedback that is so negative, and I'm disappointed to hear that your experience working here has been unsatisfactory. I’m sorry that you felt misled about expectations for your role and performance. In our job descriptions and throughout our hiring process, we try our best to provide as much visibility into the day-to-day expectations as possible. While we do have a training framework and provide frequent coaching and mentorship, it sounds like there might have been some misalignment with your expectations. We will certainly take your feedback into account in an effort to improve our employee onboarding and training experience. From your review, it appears that you were hired into a sales-oriented role. In these specific roles, we provide team members with frequent feedback, check-in sessions, and training resources. In the weekly check-in, direct feedback and recommendations are provided in order to help each team member understand where they’re excelling and where there is room for improvement. We do understand that this direct style of feedback might not be a fit for everyone, especially if the team member is new to a sales-oriented role. When team members are experiencing trouble or are not meeting expectations, we provide them with more resources, additional coaching, and a plan to improve their performance. We acknowledge that this approach may or may not work for all team members, but is common practice in sales-oriented roles. Especially during times of the pandemic and economic uncertainty, we needed to have difficult conversations and make difficult decisions when team members were not meeting these expectations or not performing, and it sounds like you may have been directly affected by this or did not agree with our approach here. Lastly, you made an interesting note about working 9+ hour days. At Cuseum, we value the health and welling of our team members and do not and have never had this expectation. As a startup, we sometimes need to work more than your typical “9-5” job, but there is a culture of balance and understanding, especially as we have team members with different schedules, approaches to work, and stages of life (e.g. raising small children, studying, family, etc.). As a remote-first team with team members around the globe, we focus on results and are extremely flexible. On any account, I see that you had a very different experience at Cuseum, and I appreciate you sharing your perspective with us. I’d welcome the opportunity to hear more about your time here and your recommendations on what we could do differently in the future. My email is brendan@cuseum.com, and my door is always open for my team, past, present, and future. Thank you, Brendan Ciecko CEO & Founder
