Pros

Cummins Central Power is a distributor for Cummins, Inc. that provides the best products in the industry. Engines, generators, parts, & service. Great vacation benefits. Health insurance is acceptable. A lot of great people are employed that have been around for a lot of years. Company is diverse enough and in an industry that is able to weather any economic downturn. Most positions in the company are not exceedingly demanding, and career and family balance is good. Company does a fair job providing the appropriate software, hardware, and tools for the job, and this is improving. Company has changed upper management recently, and has the potential to move in new, fresh directions, and grow to be a great Cummins distributor to work for. The company has recently developed a growth mindset.

Cons

Cummins Central Power (CCP) is beginning to lag behind with some salary compensation. There has been a compensation study, but salaries are no longer at the top of the competitive range like they used to for CCP. Don't expect to move up the company ladder quickly if at all, and be prepared to be in the same position for a lot of years with no advancement. Although Cummins has a strong culture and belief in career development and job succession. CCP does not. Rather than developing a career and promoting from within, CCP management has a "grass is greener on the other side" mentality. Because of this, career paths have not been developed, and many positions other than low level are hired in from the outside. Employee morale is low because of this. Management does not look internally at its own talent for advise and help to grow the business. CCP recently has developed a growth mindset, but the infrastructure of staff currently isn't there to support it, which is beginning to lead to longer hours and more stress.

Pros

You get paid for doing OT on weekends at the plant I work at now If you are in a shift that has less staffing you might earn more money on weekends as you will not have anyone to rotate with or less people to rotate with I am happy to have a manager who understands I have a lot of work pressure

Cons

If you are in a shift that has less staffing you will have a lot of work to do. For me the con is lots of work pressure in the shift I work. I think I do the work of atleast 2 people and sometimes even more. First shift will have people to rotate on weekends. Unfortunately 2nd shift doesn't have people to rotate with. We end up working every weekend but have same number of vacation days. People in 2nd can get there vacation days used up before other shifts. But still I would say its a good company considering I work in a manufacturing facility.
