Pros
-Free bagel fridays, -occasional fun team building events/baggo tournaments -Was able to briefly see a great company before the old CIO left and corporate culture turned toxic
Cons
Upon the previous CIO leaving, management told us that we were a "good, not great" group encouraging us to do our best. I feel that they've only went downhill from "good": -Incompetent IT leadership, upper-level in particular comes off as clique-y and manipulative. Often pretends to be friendly with people and listen to concerns that end up ignored. If confronted on this, they will act like you just misunderstood the situation. this happened frequently. -People who have been there for years are slowly being pushed out and replaced with drones who can spout enough buzzwords to impress those who don't know any better, but with weak hard skills. A lot of good former employees would still be there today if corporate culture didn't change to support the toxic people. -Too much focus on hiring management positions rather than skilled workers. some of the skilled workers who are hired are not vetted well (due to hiring managers not having the technical skill to accurately assess a candidate's knowledge/performance) -Opportunities for advancement are few and far between (at least in IT), unless you apply for a management position. Even then, outside hires seem to be preferred first.
