Pros

Super interesting work often for senior people in police forces/local authorities/Home Office and on projects/reviews that are nationally significant Lots of opportunity for progression - many of the more senior people have worked at different levels at Crest often for >5/6 years having started in more junior roles Pay is rising but prob still about average in the sector

Cons

The juggle - often multiple projects with pressing deadlines The firm cut staff numbers at the beginning of 2025 which was tough for everyone involved/the rest of the company

Pros

This is a workplace filled with incredibly smart colleagues from diverse backgrounds across the criminal justice system, government, and the private sector. The culture is genuinely collaborative, with contributions from people in all roles valued and encouraged. The organisation offers flexible working, with three days a week in the office and the freedom to choose start and finish times, which really supports a good work–life balance. The work itself is varied and meaningful, covering fascinating topics across the justice sector, and there’s always room to focus on areas that you personally find interesting. What stands out most is how kind and supportive colleagues are, people genuinely care about one another. Hard work is also recognised and rewarded by senior staff, which makes you feel appreciated and motivated.

Cons

The pace can get busy at times, as you’d expect in a dynamic organisation, but expectations are usually reasonable and support is available when needed.

Pros

I've worked at Crest for a number of years now and they've gone above and beyond to support me at each step of my career. I've recently returned to work from maternity leave and the senior leadership happily met my requests for reduced my hours, made sure I was aware of the KIT days I could take and warmly welcomed me on my return. I found coming back a seamless transition because all of the support that was put in place ahead of time. My manager kept in touch with me while I was away to make sure I was still in the loop for my return but also simply to know how me and my baby were getting on. I love working at Crest and recommend anyone thinking about joining to chat to one of the team members to get a rounded view of working here.

Cons

I know Crest have had a difficult year due to economic circumstances outside of their control but from what I've seen, they're making positive changes to improve the business
