Pros
While I worked at Corteva it was a wonderful work environment where I felt accepted, and there were lots of great "extra-curricular" activities like group hikes, silent auctions, pot-lucks, and holiday celebrations. It was great to work here. For some people, they were hired and re-hired for seasonal work, and there was a large amount of year-round staff, including people who were in my cohort at U of G. It seemed like the type of place where I could stay for years. I even moved to Brampton to be close to the job, thinking it was the future of my career.
Cons
When the pandemic was just getting started, I got laid off in May 2020. Then, no matter how many times I applied for my job back, I never got it. Even though I was over-qualified for the position and had relevant experience inside and outside the company, I was never re-hired. It felt like I had been ghosted by a company. No explanation, just rejection after rejection until I eventually gave up, and moved away.
