Pros

Absolutely None with this company

Cons

AVOID at all costs, this company are despicable (read other peoples reviews) I can confirm you do get deducted for valet of the van, even though I sent it back valeted. Also I was charged for having the van collected. the van had broken down the morning I was going to return it. I had noted on the tablet (you are forced to do a drivers maintence sheet every Monday) for several weeks of an engine management light and nothing was done about it. I get that my contract stated it was my responsibility to return the vehicle, which I would have happily done if it was drivable. I went to the office anyway to drop the key and tablet off. On arrival at the office I was instructed by a member of staff that I MUST return the vehicle. Did they want me to push it? Honestly I have been a tradesman for a long time and these are the worst I have been with. Cons- long hrs. Pay is not great. Management is awful/spineless (you do everything yourself). Helpdesk? Again you do everything yourself. On call rota- this is mandatory, £100 “bonus” for a 7 day, 24hr period, quite laughable. They want you in your uniform 24 hrs a day for 7 days. They say in your induction that you only get called out probably twice a week, I got called out 10-15 times, morning evening and night and all over the weekend. They take 30mins in the morning for travel and 30 mins on the night for travel, they didn’t mention this in the interview. I’ve visited several establishments on behalf of CORB to which the majority were tired of having incompetent engineers turn up to jobs that they were not qualified to do but CORB aren’t bothered about this, it’s all about the green thumb and first time fix. Some engineers are using cherry pickers on pub car parks, with members of the public present, which they have no licence to do, again, CORB aren’t bothered. You’d think they learn considering they’ve already been taken to court for deductions (google it) to engineers pay, to which they lost and here we are again with CORB unfairly deducting pay. This company expect their engineers to make themselves available to take the company van for servicing/MOT but don’t want to pay you for this! You have to pay to wash the van yourself and are not able to claim this back! I gave them 3 weeks notice although contractually only needed to give them two, kind of nice guy I am! Even if you’re desperate for work, I still wouldn’t work for this company! I wish Id taken notice of other people’s reviews and saved myself a headache.

Pros

As many hours as you want to work, and then some..

Cons

Absolute circus of a firm, from the clowns running the scheduling to the dissappearing artist's playing with your wages..you will get deductions from your pay, oh theyll think of anything to take money off you, theyve even had a court ruling against them for it, dont say you weren't warned. Youll be on call at anytime of night or day for your 1 week in 4 rota, sometimes youll be on call on more frequently, Youll be expected to travel huge distances, racking up loads of miles and time on the road then be expected to show a decent amount of work carried out on site after all that travel. Most of the people who stay at this firm are punching above their skill set or are in a training program to better themselves, the rest are looking for another job. Management are either friends of the MD or have been 'worked their way up'..( you know the type) there is a huge turnover of staff at Corb, some of the trades i meet were decent hardworking people who have since moved on to better positions in the industry, This job dosnt pay anywhere near enough for a trade for whats expected from you, the only time youll be considered for a pay rise is when youve handed your notice in, you can ask and ask, put a case forward and it will be a no until your notice goes in.
