Pros
- knowledge of those around you - there might be opportunity for growth if company follows through on plans to build new nuclear - investment grade rating, credit joke - for those that put in the effort and time (long hours) performance based comp can be significant, but at the same time if you fail to really impress you will get the target
Cons
- does not pay for internal talent, would rather pay external (new) hires higher comp for same position regardless of education and experience - Sr. mngmt has the tendency to be out of touch with their support staff - has had a "dog-eat-dog" mentality in the past - difficult to transition into front-office type roles - shrinking of trading desk, selling gas and foreign businesses greatly reduced the options for internal mobility
