Pros

fair compensation and flexible hours

Cons

I actually started this job as per-diem for additional income. Unfortunately, despite this job looked very attractive initially, I found out that this is very unreliable employer with huge turnover of regular staff and management. The management staff was very unprofessional. Only in 6 month I had 3 different team managers, when the last one had no clinical experience as NP at all! Very soon I found out that this is actually seasonal job-1 week you have jobs 6 weeks after- none. Management tried to make me doing job that I initially didn't sign for and without providing proper orientation. When I had a problem (not even as a result of my fault)-management didn't stand by my side and without making any investigation actually dismissed me from a job, stating that I'm not reliable (!). Just to say that last 7 years I'm working full time at the same place, where I started as RN and later with great recommendations continued as NP. I also worked many years at the same hospital before that. So, to hear word "unreliable" from this "new grad" manager was really funny to me. I believe I was doing a good job for organization-that actually was confirmed by deficiency free audits.

Pros

Great supplemental income when work is available 25 slot monthly Fair compensation An overall good company for supplemental income if you are not going to solely depend on it to pay your bills, because it could be feast or famine, but that is the expectations for per diem jobs Flexible with coverage locations

Cons

Mandated to provide 25 slots even when there is no work No clear, or little to no communication when there is no work, that time could be used for a hobby, relaxation etc. It is frankly unfair to do this to employees; I would appreciate a change in this practice. Wellness is important, instead of preaching about diversity and wellness, better practices that benefit employees would be more useful. Hope this helps with quality improvement
