Pros
Friendships are formed over the poor work environment.
Cons
Limited Employee Benefits: The company offers minimal benefits, including inadequate health insurance, limited paid time off (PTO), and insufficient retirement options. Additionally, maternity and paternity leave policies are not supportive. Excessive Work Expectations: Employees are expected to be on-call 24/7, with frequent demands to work 12-hour days or more, leading to significant work-life imbalance. The standard workweek regularly exceeds 41 hours, which places a strain on personal time. Toxic Work Environment: There is a lack of respect in the workplace, with public undermining of staff in front of colleagues, which harms morale. Success at the company seems to be reserved for individuals who are close to or related to the owners, leading to a sense of favoritism and limited opportunity for others. Health and Safety Concerns: There are serious issues regarding workplace safety, particularly with the handling of lead and other hazardous chemicals. Employees are often asked to work with these materials without adequate protection or consideration for state and federal safety regulations. Compensation Issues: There has been little to no salary growth during my time at the company. Raises are rare and do not keep up with inflation, leading to financial stagnation and frustration. In conclusion, unless you are a close friend or family member of the owners, advancement and success at this company can be extremely challenging. The lack of adequate benefits, poor work-life balance, and failure to adhere to basic health and safety standards make this workplace difficult to recommend.
