      Pros

      Good benefits and lots of time off. Very relaxed environment for the IT department.

      Cons

      Pay sucks compared to industry. Lots of politics and favoritism. Seniority-based advancement. Very little recognition for a job well done. No incentive to try any more than just enough to get by.

      Pros

      If you a PhD student, you never have to worry about money or funding. Professors have a lot of funding for different research projects.

      Cons

      The EE department/professors are not very supportive of the PhD students. Most of them are not typically patient with students if they are taking their time with projects. They replace them with new students.
