Pros

1) A mission that is grounded in equity, 2) our students and their families, 3) staff who deeply care for their students and communities, 4) generous benefits

Cons

There’s been a drastic fall-off in quality decision-making, communication, and staff morale over the past year when a new CEO took the helm. (The former CEO remains featured on this site, but the current CEO is Shirley Collado.) Decision-making: “Drinking from a fire hydrant” is an understatement of how fast and fierce decisions are handed down across the organization. Rarely made from a place of evidence-based rationale or careful planning, nearly every significant decision has been recalled or pivoted from and every timeline is delayed. Leadership’s decisions are made in a vacuum that values neither internal nor external collaboration. Communication: The current leaders communicate through manipulation of information and both lies of omission and outright lies. They tell staff how to feel about organizational developments. They tell us to rethink our place at College Track if we won’t praise the emperor’s new clothes – clothing that doesn’t exist, but everyone must pretend to find dazzling. Staff morale: College Track has become a painfully political environment where staff don’t feel safe to trust one another. The CEO and COE avoid any kind of accountability, preferring to throw their direct reports under the bus through the guise of “empowering” them or by blaming past leaders. The organization has devolved from a place that prioritized staff culture to one where that culture must be centered on and loyal to the leader at the top.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We deeply value all input as it helps us to continually improve. We're genuinely sorry to learn about your experience. At College Track, we’ve implemented significant changes to enhance support systems for our scholars on their journey towards a college degree and a fulfilling career. Transitions by nature aren’t perfect nor linear—we understand the challenges and unpredictability that these may bring. We’ve dedicated time to reflect on our journey, learning valuable lessons along the way, and we are committed to fostering an environment where all team members feel valued, heard, and supported. Maintaining a positive and supportive work environment is paramount to us. Your feedback serves as a reminder of what is important—the well-being of our scholars, families, and, equally important, creating an inclusive workplace for teammates to thrive. Once again, thank you for your feedback.

Pros

I love the fact that every time I walk into work there is a smilling colleague or student waiting to greet me. Everyone who works at College Track is passionate about their job and the students are brilliant.

Cons

I don't have much bad to say except that as a College Track Alumni maybe we should get the students better food for after school programming.

Pros

The sites work magic with the kids. They are amazing advoates and kids thrive with that direct attention in high school and check ins during college. The internship and externship opportunities for the students are amazing and will give them a great head start.

Cons

Senior management as a whole. It all stems from the top. Mgmt gets to change what they want, when they want. And you either get on board (even if they dont have reasoning for the change) or you will be asked to leave. Managers get to do what they want with very little to no oversight for anything they do. Including Taking off time frequently and randomly. Having staff summits or retreats at random points in the year. There are no 360 reviews so only top down which means while the down may be doing the gruling work, the top gets to both take credit and tell the down they arent doing it right. Went through at least one regorg per year (often 2). Contractors are hired for KEY elements to the program and are not vetted nor are managed by senior staff. Often creating a larger gap between staff and trust in management. Contractors often do not have the valuable historical context staff do thusly end up causing more issues than just letting staff take their time to roll out items to students. Zero training for management. Leaders are allowed to tell people what to do vs lead them. Lots of meeting pop ins from senior staff to "check" in while also not doing weekly 1:1s staff request for clarity. Remember its an at will job. They can and will change your title, pay, or employment based on their needs and not your actual value to students or staff.
