Pros

Some colleagues were great to work with and learn from

Cons

Over the past couple of years, Coeo has undergone significant changes in management and culture that have negatively impacted the work environment. Unfortunately, many of the positive reviews from the past no longer reflect the current state of the company, particularly in the managed service team. In my experience, the managed service team is severely overworked and understaffed, with on-call responsibilities that are among the most challenging I’ve encountered in the industry. The promises of personal development and training are inconsistent, often dependent on manager discretion, and difficult to pursue due to the constant demand on team members' time. While early-career programs have been advertised, the actual experience gained is often not aligned with the company's core services, leaving new hires without the expected skills in areas like data analytics and AI. The management team, particularly in the managed service area, lacks the necessary training and experience to effectively lead, often creating unrealistic expectations and pressure. The compensation package does not reflect industry standards for the workload or stress involved, contributing to low morale. Initiatives for employee well-being appear to be more for optics than for genuine support, as there is little follow-through on improving the work-life balance or addressing mental health concerns. There has been a noticeable exodus of talented colleagues, likely due to the company’s declining culture, lack of respect, and disregard for employee well-being. I hope this feedback encourages necessary improvements, as Coeo once had great potential.

Pros

I joined this organisation with high expectations, as on paper the role and company appear to offer strong growth opportunities, particularly for those early in their careers. Unfortunately, the reality did not align with this, The only good thing I experienced were some of my peers and can be considered as a entry point into the industry as with most data companies

Cons

Despite positioning itself as a supportive learning environment, this is not reflected in practice. Leadership can be dismissive, and there is a noticeable gap between how support and empathy are communicated versus how they are actually demonstrated. At times, this comes across as performative rather than genuine, with a stronger underlying focus on delivery and the bottom line. There is also a lack of maturity within the service team leadership and HR function. This is reflected in inconsistent professionalism, decision-making, and the overall employee experience, which can feel surprisingly unstructured. Compensation tends to sit at the lower end of the market, and there are inconsistencies in how employees are supported and rewarded across different regions. Favouritism is another concern, with meaningful opportunities and progression often going to long-standing employees or perceived “favourites,” rather than being distributed based on merit or potential. Overall, while the organisation looks strong externally, the internal reality does not match. The role, especially for early-career candidates, feels misrepresented in terms of the level of support, development, and opportunity actually provided. Despite the organisation’s emphasis on feedback culture and external recognition as a “great place to work,” there are concerns around how employee feedback is handled in practice. Anonymous surveys do not always feel genuinely anonymous, and there can be implicit pressure to disclose or justify feedback. This creates a reluctance to speak openly and raises questions around how well employee privacy and psychological safety are protected.
