- Departments are siloed to the extreme and seem to compete against each other. As a consequence, collaboration is discouraged.
- Product design is virtually non-existent and in practice means reverse engineering their own existing products with an unbelievably short-sighted "we know better" attitude. Saving face and making managers look good is rewarded and a priority over executing and delivering.
- Development teams are meant to use Scrum and other agile tools, but only as a façade. Management assigns "personal projects" to individuals. Those are just part of the regular work that managers want to prevent from being estimated and developed by a team, hoping that this approach will get things done faster.
- Communication is ineffective. Meetings are often long and dull, with parts of the attendance heads-down, swiping at their smartphones.
