In my previous role, the work environment was deeply unprofessional and exclusionary. Although it was a German-owned company, the team was dominated by a group from a single Indian state, and Malayalam—not English—was the primary language of communication. As an expat, this created a hostile and isolating atmosphere. Power and decision-making were held by a few individuals who showed clear bias, dismissing input from anyone outside their circle. Despite repeatedly asking about the status of my contract, I was only informed of its non-renewal a week before it ended—completely disregarding transparency or basic courtesy. They claimed to support flexible work but used it as an excuse to remove me, and frequently pushed tasks onto me that I wasn’t comfortable with or hired for. The entire experience lacked integrity, fairness, and respect.
