Pros

- competitive salary in most departments - wonderful colleagues in most departments

Cons

Most issues unfortunately are with top level leadership at Choco - strong proximity bias from top level management & lack of trust towards experts - tendency from top level leadership to micromanage - raising problems equals being negative, which means no safe space to actually raise issues - culture of fear, hire & fire. claim to be humble but culture is actually very exclusive and feels almost arrogant - little regard for employee needs. decision making processes (i.e. hybrid policy) are lead emotionally and not data driven - went through 2nd layoff in 2023 - bad at hiring for leadership roles. Especially C-Level executives do not last long. - culture is highly political, if you are close to CEO there is a strong bias towards you being a high performer - frequent change of strategy and direction Employees - pressure to come to the office and stay long hours - low to no transparency on compensation and performance review - bad feedback culture, feedback is often given when too late - constant multitasking and change of priorities, lack of direction to perform well - (white) bro-culture, pressure to drink and party during company events - strong bias pro-extroverts - only 25 days of holidays Company Culture - hustle, win or die, hero culture - expectation to "sacrifice" for the company

We appreciate you taking the time to leave your feedback. While it's not always easy to read, any review will help us reflect and improve. We are sorry to hear that after your long tenure at Choco, you left with a negative perception. Every decision made, no matter how difficult, is always done keeping our mission and strategy at the forefront. Unfortunately, this also means that sometimes a decision that is best for the team can be hard on an individual level. We wish you the best in all of your future endeavors.

Pros

Decent benefits Some great, smart, dedicated colleagues Clients are real, family owned businesses and the product can actually help them

Cons

HR operates with a veneer of caring for the employees but actually is the coldest, most uncaring HR department Ive worked with. Poor planning (amateurish) saw several rounds of layoffs including very skilled and tenured reps just for similar roles to need to be filled a couple months later and HR unavailable to find qualified candidates. Lead to underutilized resources and lagging growth. Executive leadership blew a tremendous market/product lead (and a LOT of cash) on poorly planned business operations, frivolous spending, and reactionary/inconsistent decision making. For sales, few learning opportunities. Management has little direct sales experience and is learning as they go. Often push the rep to make decisions so they dont have to. Favoritism environment. Often encourage promising things to clients to get deals done that are unavailable and unplanned. Little space for growth and quota starting to feel unattainable due to smaller than advertised TAM, increasing competition with strong execution, growing headcount with long deal cycles relative to ASP

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience left you feeling unsupported, this is far below the standard we set for ourselves, and we’re disappointed to know we missed the mark. While we can’t change how you felt during your time with us, we sincerely appreciate you speaking up, and we take your perspective seriously. Over the past few years, our company and product have evolved rapidly, and with that growth have come significant organisational changes. As we’ve scaled, we’ve had to introduce more consistent frameworks that comply with regional regulations and more importantly, ensure fairness and clarity in how we operate across the team. We however, recognise that these changes can also feel impersonal if not handled with care. We are actively working to improve how we engage with employees (from exit interviews to feedback channels) and your input reinforces why this work is so important. Our goal is to create a workplace where people feel valued, heard, and supported at every stage of their journey here. Thank you again for taking the time to share this, your insights are helping us build a better company. Best, POPs team
