Pros

Some helpful colleagues to meet staffs

Cons

My worst decision made in 2021 was to join this company. Joined them on Dec 27, 2021 as their Marketing Director. ON THE FIRST DAY, the owner demanded for a marketing and advertising plan for their Forest Hills opening. This was even before any proper orientation and training to their company. Anyway, I did my part and presented to them my 50 page marketing and advertising plan ON THE FIRST DAY. The owner said that he like some of the ideas in my plan, given some feedback which I had acted on it. ON THE THIRD DAY, all of a sudden, the owner began to call for a meeting in an interrogative manner saying that he is very concern about my work performance and threatened me to beef up the advertising plan over the New Year or lose my job if I don’t do it within 4 days! Immediately, I know this is not the type of company that I would want to work for when you have a threatening management style. Also, they tell you that you have the marketing manager, social media coordinator and agency support before you join the company (even on their job description), only to find that you operate like a “one man show”. Hence I told them that I will not want to carry on my employment with them. The most amusing thing is that the owner do not trust your ability but yet taking notes the whole time when you brief him. (Should be called Cheap City instead). It's a shame that all other staffs in the company were generally helpful to new staffs except the owner. I am glad I left the company just after 3 days of joining them!

Pros

Chip City has been a great experience so far - lots of opportunity to share new ideas and get things done in a short period of time without the red tape of a large organization. Lots of energy and a great product!

Cons

Priorities can shift often, but this is to be expected in smaller, growing companies that are driving innovation.
