-As an independent contractor, there is substantial leeway to how you get the job done.
-Most* of the kids you will meet are eager to learn and their parents are welcoming.
-Decent pay when worked to your advantage.
-Most* managers are very friendly and at least somewhat helpful.
Cons
-No pay for traveling. Not a problem if you find a student within walking distance of your home.
-The DOE apparently puts a lot of pressure on the company to provide results. This can mean getting a manager who is obnoxious and pushy.
-Invariably, some of the children you tutor will be unwilling to learn and possibly disrespectful.
-Walking through high crime areas ("the ghetto")
-Unpaid for paperwork
