Pros

Working at Cell C came with several valuable employee benefits. Staff received a free cellphone contract valued at R500, and the company contributed 50% towards medical aid. Employees were entitled to four months of maternity leave, eight days off per month, and annual leave. In addition, Cell C offered a provident fund through Alexander Forbes, contributing to long-term financial security.

Cons

While my experience at Cell C was largely positive and I remained deeply loyal to the company, one challenge I faced was related to management support, particularly as a working mother. Although this was not a reflection of the company’s values, my direct manager at the time—ironically, a woman—was unsympathetic toward the responsibilities that come with parenthood. Prioritizing my child’s health during emergencies was often met with resistance and a lack of compassion, which ultimately created a stressful work environment and led me to make the difficult decision to leave a job I truly loved.
