Pros
The students are bright and engaged.
Cons
This is a great place to work if you are 'in' with those that have power or are a tenured professor. In fact, those that are tenured and members of the senior administration can act with impunity. Those that do not have tenure should proceed with extreme caution. You should be sure that all agreements made are in writing as often deals made at one time are changed at a later time. The total compensation package (pay and benefits) is not competitive. You are expected to give Carthage College a discount for the privilege of working there. The accounting and business practices are questionable at best. The senior management seems to care most about new capital projects (e.g., new buildings) and very little about faculty and staff.
