Pros
I recently completed an internship at Careloop over the summer. As a founders associate, I gained exposure to everything from sales to finance to strategy. The co-founder I worked under is passionate and always took time out of his busy schedule to make sure that I had everything I needed to complete my work, providing daily morning checkins along with additional meetings when needed.
He was open to being challenged and took my suggestions seriously; he was direct and didn't leave me guessing about true meanings; he was flexible, both in regards to how work was conducted, as well as regarding hours; he also explained things very well and broke down complex topics to an easy to understand level.
I learned a lot and significantly improved both hard skills (excel, hubspot, emails, etc.), as well as soft skills and gaining insight to how founders make big decisions.
The overall environment in the office was always friendly and everyone was always willing to help when I needed something and there were a lot of other interns so lots of other people in the same situation that made it easy to relate to them.
Cons
Any issues I had were because of the duration of the internship and not because of the company or leadership.
