Office Manager (HR, IT, Payroll, Catch All) - Office Manager Career Collaborative Employee Review

Pros

I get to work with an incredible team of people that really care about the organization and the people being helped. They care about changing lives. In addition to the team, the benefits (both HR and culturally) are beyond compare in both corporate and non-profit environments. From the date of hire employees are eligible for employer sponsored health insurance (75%), 3 weeks of vacation, 1 week of sick time (sick and vacation time are accrued), employer sponsored short and long term disability insurance (100% paid), 11 paid holidays and matching 403(b) (up to 3%).

Cons

Because we are still a smaller organization there isn't much room for upward advancement. That being said, growth within a position is greatly encouraged. Employees are provided the ability to attend workshops (typically employer paid) to learn new skills or hone those already achieved.

Pros

Ultimately, my experience at Career Collaborative was a positive one. The people who work there are dedicated to their clients and supportive of each other and the goals of the organization, and the work itself is fulfilling. I was given many opportunities to contribute in different and valued ways, which provided me with the opportunity for personal growth as well. The organization has headed in a more growth-oriented, balanced and likely sustainable direction with the new CEO.

Cons

Sometimes it could be hard to maintain personal space and boundaries from certain clients, which felt extra-challenging on hectic days. Better data collection and management resources could and should be developed (though I understand that's already in process), because I know we definitely did some surveys and feedback initiatives whose results were never analyzed and discussed nor applied. Salary is a bit on the low side, but that's a nonprofit for you and it wasn't enough of a con for me to not take and enjoy the job.
