Pros
If you love working with kids and learning, relearning, or keeping fresh on a variety of topics and can afford/don't mind working only part time this is the job for you!
You are guaranteed to work with a variety of topics and age groups depending on your strengths/knowledge. You will end up finding an age group or topic you work best with, but a general knowledge of all standard k-8th grade (or higher) topics tends to come in handy.
The people are really nice and everyone tries to help everyone else out.
It is highly rewarding when the students finally do understand the topics they are struggling with and you can help them get there.
Cons
The management sometimes gets in the way of really helping the kids. The boss really cares about the students and employees, but sometimes can take counter productive measures at the wrong time (like switching tutors for kids in the middle of session for no apparent reason).
The pay is slightly lower per hour for a tutoring job, but it is a stable part time job so in the long run it might average out to about the same.
It is an intense and at times chaotic environment, where you may be balancing 7 kids who need help, at the same time, for an hour and a half. (Generally there should be 5 kids per tutor and management does assist).
There are not really any defined breaks between sessions.
