Pros
- Nice, intelligent group of hard-working young scientists - If you work under a good PI, you have the opportunity to do some great science
Cons
- For the most part, inexperienced management - Unfair promotions - Poor/no involvement of postdocs on decisions related to their projects' future direction - Postdocs don't really have a voice, unless you work for one of the few good PI who value your opinion and treat you as a true 'project lead scientist'. - Hard to get promoted -- or even have an understanding of what it would take to grow.
