They ask more than you can possibly give regardless of your work ethic. Very poor. - Field Manager CSX Employee Review

Pros

Experience, responsibility and an opportunity to lead a fortune 250 company. Networking is excellent and relationships with other employees flourish due to the extended hours.

Cons

Absolutely no work life balance whatsoever. Give, give and give is what you will do as this organizations motto is take, take and take. Family, personal and professional relationships are consistently strained due to the incredible dedication that is expected from all CSX employees. After years of dedicated service the treatment of employees has not improved at all. Harassment is not allowed but threats of firing employees happens daily and is common in public forums. Very unprofessional approach to development and advancement. This review is not by a bitter ex employee but rather by one that has survived all of the cuts and watched from the sidelines as many of my friends have been treated horribly and with zero respect. To say that I'm appalled is an understatement. I am actively trying to find another job and would hesitate to recommend this organization to an enemy.

Pros

Fair minded and supportive management. Not directly involved in RR management, so did not have the same hours or demands as many do.

Cons

None really--large publicly held company. Working on a contract basis, so can't speak to benefits.

Pros

Simple business model which is dependent on customer service.

Cons

Board is run by an Activist Investor. Company officers for the past 10 year have been bleeding off company assets and reducing operational capabilities in exchange for short term valuations. Many of these senior leaders were brought in with documented history of sexual misconduct and questionable corporate ethics. Their only qualification they need is that they were former managers under the Hunter Harrison regime at Canadian National.
