Pros
Great reputation/prestige. Folks I work with are also great. Good clients. Interesting assignments.
Cons
Bureaucracy that makes the federal government look efficient. For a mid-career professional, you have to pay your dues again the BAH way, which can take some time. If you take one or more steps back to come to BAH, make sure that you do what you can to understand the process for promotion within your group. I can't speak to other groups at BAH, but within mine the pressure to be billable is just immense. Pressure to be billable is expected in the consulting industry, but in my group at least, it is way above the norm, and I have been around the industry for many years. My management is very quick to mention the possibility of "lack of work letters": basically a BAH pink slip. So, if you're on a multi-year contract, great. If your work/skill area lends itself to shorter contracts, BAH may not be the place for you.
