Cool people but no direction - Anonymous employee BookShout Employee Review

Great company with an outstanding culture. Excellent work-life balance. Good benefits. This is a forward thinking company with their eye on growth while working hard to maintain a casual, fun, team-centric culture.

None that I have seen.

A very relaxed environment with flexible hours and a lot of remote work opportunity. Small company with very little red tape. Food, snacks, and drinks for free. It's a cool product that HAD potential.

They just laid off most of their developers, QA, and business development team, and have essentially given up on growing the product. Ownership doesn't believe that the product can succeed so they are just milking what little they have left. Even before the layoffs some of the key players in creating BookShout's success started quitting (like the head developer and the head salesperson) and the former CEO was forced out. Current leadership is lacking.
